Downtown Water Line Project June 19-28

The City is required to conduct water line work downtown starting the week of June 17. The work will not affect water service to any businesses and all the businesses will be open and accessible.

Below is a photo showing an example of the water valves (circled in BLUE) that need to be examined and the sections of concrete (between the GREEN arrows) that need to be removed. There are 13 locations total, almost all on North Mill Street.

The contractor will remove the concrete slabs and the Department of Public Works (DPW) will come in behind to hydro-excavate the area around the valve (rule is 18” either side) so an identification of the pipe materials on either side of the valve can be made and photos taken.

Once this is done, the hole will be back-filled with sand. The contractor will be removing concrete slabs Wednesday June 19 through Friday June 21. DPW will begin hydro-excavating the valves shortly thereafter.

They expect this investigation work will be completed by NEXT Monday, June 24, and the contractor will be back to place the concrete Tuesday June 25 through Friday June 29.

This schedule is partially dependent on weather. They will be working early in the day as much as possible.
